| well, dimmu is symphonic black metal, and now they're starting to add the death sound into their new stuff. but, generally, they are black metal. can't really pick one though, i've grown too fond of all those types. my top are black (black/death) industrial death (deathgrind) nu _________________ Laissez - Faire

| If you strip down black metal to it's core, Dimmu ain't black metal coz they are too commercial. They just use bm influences like Cradle of Filth (shit). |

| black metal is mainly about luciferism, nothing against commercialism. hell, the start of it was highly commercialized. cradle of filth is mostly about xxxtreme horror. dimmu moslty talks about satanic apocalypse. hell, might as well say that belphegor and behemoth aren't black metal just cause they are also highly commercialized. or venom and celtic frost. the core is basically darkened thrash metal. _________________ Laissez - Faire

| And Early Metal... Not really a genre, but it describes several early metal bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin(I always misspell, it, so whatever). _________________ | Hammm wrote: | Also my friend was a furry, then gay, then we never talked again

| power metal and proggressive are two important genres that could have replaced some of those genres in the vote area, but heavy and symphonic aren't too important. they're both very broad categories. but, early metal in a way is important, because it basically is the fathers of metal. the only other genre they can fall under is heavy metal/hardrock. which, are now two very broad genres. _________________ Laissez - Faire

Black Metal is more about Satanism then Luciferenism, it's just all the anti-christian stuff makes people think it's all about Lucifer. And it's true that the first wave of Black Metal with bands like Venom was commercial, it then went into the underground (especially for the second wave). Most Black Metal bands now limit copies of their releases to only a few hundred so that it doesn't become commercial. This is true Black Metal. And the darkened thrash metal is only mostly true of the first and second waves. Now there is stuff that's so complicated it's very close in musical theory to jazz or classical music.
BTW old Behemoth were black metal then they changed to death metal. |

| but how would the examples of the SECOND wave be an example of what all true black metal should be? and, behemoth just went to blackened death metal. they aren't full death metal. and dimmu is mostly symphonic black metal. melodic black metal is more like children of bodom (with the power metal sound). dimmu is actually getting harder now too, a little death i noticed in one of their songs. _________________ Laissez - Faire

| his groove examples weren't that good... they all have it... but not like pantera or sepultura. well, lamb of god sort of too. but it should have had pantera, sepultura, exodor (however you spell it, don't feel like googling) and white zombie. _________________ Laissez - Faire
