the desktop on my computer vanishes at random, though usually when i close a window.

the start menu vanishes and the background goes back to the previous one like when i first start the computer or shut it off. i can't right click to bring up the menu and the only way i can open programs is by using task manager...

when i minimize it goes down to a little bar with just the title...kind of like in the older windows stuff...

Open the Task Manager, and go to Run, type in explorer and click ok, that should reactivate your desktop bar.

I shall look into this more, thank PKB for commenting on my topic to call me back to FH and check things out.
