What do you guys think of the situation that is going on?

I think that Russia is trying to take over Georgia for this reason:

Georgia wants to join NATO. one of NATO's rules is that if one member nation is attacked, it is as if all member nations are attacked. I would say that Russia has attacked Georgia, and if Georgia were in NATO, all of NATO would have to respond either diplomatically or militarily. So Russia now would just find it easier to take all of Georgia and use the South Ossetia conflict as an excuse.
